Our Coast, Our Sea - Art goes wild

4 January 2012

Lovers of art and wildlife will have the opportunity to indulge their passion at an event later this month.

For, an exhibition of wildlife inspired artwork will be taking place at the Lantern Café, St Nicholas Cathedral, Cathedral Square, Newcastle, Thursday 19 January between 7.00pm – 9.00pm.

A number of artists have generously donated work and, if sold, proceeds will go to Northumberland Wildlife Trust to fund its vital conservation work.

In addition to the artwork, there will be entertainment from lively local singers and a band. The event is being sponsored by LUSH, the retail chain specialising in hand made cosmetics and soaps and CAKE, the local cake store based on Grainger Street in the centre of Newcastle.

The whole event is the brainchild of Danielle Hodgson, a fine art student at Newcastle College whose final year project is to raise money for the wildlife charity through an art based event.

Not content with just designing the posters and tickets, Danielle has roped her sister, who is studying events management, in to help with the organization of the event.

Danielle said: “I live in Northumberland and really believe in all that Northumberland Wildlife Trust stands and just how much it protects wildlife in the Region; I really hope people come along and support this event as it would be a fabulous end to my college course.”

Tickets for the event are on sale priced at £3.50 and are available from
The Box Office, Newcastle College (situated in the Performance Academy on Ryehill Campus).
