Do you know someone who’s campaigned tirelessly to protect a patch of green space? Have you got a favourite teacher who’s inspired you to do something for nature? Is there a famous person you admire who’s challenging the system? If so, they could be a candidate for on eo fthe National Trust’s Octavia Hill awards

Octavia Hill was one of the original founders of the National Trust in 1895. A passionate champion of social reform Octavia was driven to bring about improvements in people’s everyday lives, at home, at work or in thier leisure time convinced that ” We all need space; unless we have it we cannot reach that sense of quiet in which whispers of better things come to us gently… ’

To mark the centenary of her death in 1912 the National Trust is launching the Octavia Hill Awards with 6 different categories. Growing Hero, Natural Hero, Inspirational Hero, The People’s Campaigner, Green Space Guardian and “Love Places” Award.
