Our Coast, Our Sea - What a Beauty!
18 May 2010
The Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)Partnership have a new initiative to raise the voice of young people in the management and governance of the AONB. This process is to be launched at an event to be held at Bamburgh Castle on 1 June 2010 from 11am to 4pm. The target group is 13-19 year olds. The aim is to raise awareness of the AONB, its natural beauty and its governance, and management. In particular the event will begin to gather the views of young people on a number of “questions”:
•What do you understand to be the purpose of the Northumberland Coast AONB?
•What things do you do currently (if any) in the AONB?
•What more needs to be done by people and organisations to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the AONB (including management and recreational use of natural and historic heritage)?
•What would you like to see happen that would give young people more of a voice in the management and governance of the AONB?
The event will be a fun, informative opportunity with a variety of activities facilitated by Northumberland County Council staff, and commercial providers. For further information contact: Mel Nicholls on 01665 511207 or email mel.nicholls@northumberland.gov.uk
