Our Coast, Our Sea - Would you like to help shape the future of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?

Would you like to help shape the future of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty?
The Northumberland Coast between Berwick and the Coquet estuary is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in recognition of its superb landscape quality and with the purpose of conserving and enhancing its natural beauty.
The responsibility for championing the conservation and enhancement of the AONB lies with the AONB Partnership which was formed in 2003. A key role for the Partnership is to oversee the production and implementation of a Management Plan to guide Northumberland County Council and other organisations in securing a sustainable future for the AONB and the people that live and work in, and enjoy visiting, the area.
A vacancy has arisen on the Partnership for a Special Interest Member. Pat Scott, Partnership Chair said “We are looking for people to apply who have a special interest in the area. Interests can include its landscape, natural and cultural heritage, tourism, planning or local business. Ideally, the new Special Interest Member will be a resident of the AONB, although people who live outside the area, but who work in or visit it regularly, are also invited to apply. What is essential is that they have specialist knowledge of some aspect of the AONB.”
If you care about the future of the AONB and can spare a few days a year to attend meetings, events and site visits then the AONB Partnership would like to hear from you.
The closing date is 22 July 2011. For further information, or to apply, please visit the website: www.northumberlandcoastaonb.org or contact:
