Our Coast, Our Sea - Your old mobiles can help protect wildlife
12 January 2011
If Father Christmas popped a new mobile phone in your stocking and you are looking for a good home for your old one, a local wildlife charity would love to take it off your hands!
Northumberland Wildlife Trust can receive up to £10 from Redeem plc for every recyclable mobile phone sent for recycling and it will also receive cash for old inkjets which may be gathering dust in the cupboard.
The money received from the phone recycling will help to fund vital conservation work throughout the Region including the installation of nest boxes for vulnerable species, especially bats and barn owls, many of which suffered greatly during the recent harsh weather.
If you would like to help, contact Laura Lowther at Northumberland Wildlife Trust on: 0191 284 6884 for a mobile phone recycling envelope. Alternatively, they can be picked up from the Trust’s head quarters at St Nicholas Park in Gosforth, the temporary visitor centre at Hauxley Nature Reserve, Plessey Woods Country Park or Druridge Bay Country Park.
